Raising awareness about online violence

As part of its 11th For a Better Tomorrow campaign, Zavarovalnica Triglav supports workshops for adolescents and parents on the topic of online violence

Slovenia's leading insurance company supported 27 prevention projects across Slovenia in this New Year's For a Better Tomorrow campaign, which is now in its 11th year. In the southern region, the company collaborated with the Krško Association of Friends of Youth to facilitate workshops for children, adolescents, and their parents on recognising and responding to online violence. The Southern Region of Zavarovalnica Triglav also donated funds to the Zasavje Intergenerational Centre and the Orehovica Volunteer Fire Brigade as part of the For a Better Tomorrow campaign.

The For a Better Tomorrow prevention campaign is part of our core mission to create a safer future for all. This year, the Southern Region of Zavarovalnica Triglav focused particularly on the safety of children and adolescents, who are increasingly vulnerable to online violence. The workshops organised by the Krško Association of Friends of Youth will provide valuable support to both young people and their parents in dealing with such challenges. We also supported the educational project of the Zasavje Intergenerational Centre and ensured that firefighters, who are always the first to come to our aid in times of need, were not forgotten,” explained David Toporš, Director of the Southern Region at Zavarovalnica Triglav, about this year's prevention campaign.

The Krško Association of Friends of Youth has observed an increase in online violence and the associated distress experienced by children and adolescents, as well as their parents, who often feel unsure about how to help. The workshops, organised with the support of Zavarovalnica Triglav, will help raise awareness of this issue. The training and workshops will provide children, young people, and their parents with valuable information on online safety, along with promotional materials offering tips on how to respond to online violence. Contact details for organisations that regularly address this issue will also be provided.

This programme is another important step towards identifying hate speech, raising awareness about safety, and promoting responsible data usage online. We have successfully integrated existing programmes and projects, sharing our knowledge and experience with children, young people, and their parents,” said Uroš Brezovšek, President of the Krško Association of Friends of Youth.

For firefighters and education on psychophysical health
As part of the For a Better Tomorrow campaign, the Southern Region of Zavarovalnica Triglav also extended support to the Orehovica Volunteer Fire Brigade in purchasing new firefighting equipment. Firefighters play a crucial role in local communities and are often the first to respond in times of need, which is why Slovenia's leading insurance company has been supporting them for many years. They also work together to raise public awareness about fire safety and preventive behaviour in various other areas.

As part of the 11th New Year’s campaign, Zavarovalnica Triglav also supported the Zasavje Intergenerational Centre in delivering an educational programme aimed at improving the psychophysical wellbeing and health of adults. The programme promotes healthy lifestyles, helps reduce the risks of poor physical and mental health, and contributes to a higher quality of life.

More than 270 prevention projects supported
The traditional For a Better Tomorrow campaign, organised by Zavarovalnica Triglav, has now been running for 11 years and has so far supported more than 270 prevention projects in health, education, social care, and civil protection, as well as flood and traffic safety. Twenty-seven projects were carried out this year alone, with a total value of EUR 70,000. Through this New Year prevention campaign, Slovenia’s leading insurer is also fulfilling its mission of creating a safer future. It works closely with local communities, who are best placed to respond to calls for help and meet the needs of their residents.
