As the year draws to a close, it is a time for giving, reflection, compassion for society’s most vulnerable, and gratitude for those who support us in times of need. With this spirit and a commitment to a safer future, Zavarovalnica Triglav has supported 27 prevention projects across Slovenia through its 11th New Year's campaign, For a Better Tomorrow. In the western region, nine organisations received support, with a focus on expanding the network of defibrillators and assisting fire brigades in purchasing new equipment. The Kozara Primary School in Nova Gorica was also supported in its efforts to enhance children's road safety through the purchase of bicycles, bicycle helmets, and child safety equipment.
“The For a Better Tomorrow prevention campaign is part of our core mission to create a safer future for all. This year, the Western Region of Zavarovalnica Triglav once again addressed the needs of local communities by supporting nine prevention projects across various locations. With our assistance, five new defibrillators will be installed, and we again focused on firefighters, whose role in protecting lives, property, and the environment is crucial. At the same time, we ensured that the most vulnerable members of our society were not overlooked,” emphasises Jože Celin, Director of the Western Region at Zavarovalnica Triglav.
Expanding the defibrillator network
In the event of a cardiac arrest, proximity to a defibrillator is crucial and can significantly improve the chances of survival. Seconds count when it comes to saving lives, which is why Zavarovalnica Triglav is working to expand its network of defibrillators across Slovenia in order to ensure a safer future for everyone, including people living in remote areas. This year, through various organisations and projects – including the For a Better Tomorrow campaign – 19 defibrillators were purchased and installed, and a total of 230 have now been installed since 2014.
As part of this New Year's prevention campaign, the Western Region of Zavarovalnica Triglav facilitated the purchase and installation of new defibrillators in the municipalities of Kobarid (Koseč village), Komen (Lukovec village) and Loška Dolina (Iga village), as well as local community Prem (Smrje village) and the Regional Red Cross Association in Koper, which allocated funds for installing a defibrillator at the Tinjan excursion point.
In support of firefighters
Firefighters are a vital part of local communities and often the first to respond in times of need. For this reason, Slovenia's leading insurance company has been supporting them for many years. They work together to raise public awareness of fire safety and prevention in various other areas.
The Western Region of Zavarovalnica Triglav supported three volunteer fire brigades as part of this year's For a Better Tomorrow campaign. The initiative helped the volunteer firefighters in Slavina acquire personal protective equipment, assisted the firefighters in Šmarje na Vipavskem in equipping a new fire engine, and enabled the volunteer firefighters in Ravne pri Cerknem to purchase a portable pump.
For new bicycles, helmets and safety equipment
As part of the For a Better Tomorrow campaign, the Western Region of Zavarovalnica Triglav allocated some funds to Kozara Primary School in Nova Gorica to co-finance the purchase of bicycles, bicycle helmets, and child safety equipment. This initiative aims to enhance the pupils' practical bike riding skills, increase their cycling competence, reduce the risk of accidents, and improve safety for all road users.
More than 270 prevention projects supported
The traditional For a Better Tomorrow campaign, organised by Zavarovalnica Triglav, has now been running for 11 years in a row and has so far supported more than 270 prevention projects in health, education, social care, and civil protection, as well as flood and traffic safety. Twenty-seven projects were carried out this year alone, with a total value of EUR 70,000. Through this New Year’s prevention campaign, Slovenia’s leading insurer is also fulfilling its mission of creating a safer future. It works closely with local communities, who are best placed to respond to calls for help and meet the needs of their residents.
